New arc flash standards have been released.  However, as with the previous arc flash code, they do not require specific information to be included on arc flash labels.  The new NEC 2008 code requires arc flash labels be used, but leaves it to the equipment owner to decide what information to include.  If an arc flash study has been done, then the information is available such that boundary information can be included on the label.  In most cases, however, boundary information is not available and the arc flash label will include generic information.  In either case, sufficient information should be included such that anyone who approaches the equipment will be informed about the danger and what they need to do to be safe.
