Free Gift From DuraLabel

Posted in Free Offers (Industrial) at 7:51 pm by duralabel

A variety of free gifts are available from the makers of the DuraLabel printer and DuraLabel supplies.  One  of the most useful is the pipe marking guide.

They actually offer two pipe marking guides.  The most popular is the ASNI / ASME guide, which shows the pipe marking standards used in most buildings and facilities.  The other guide is specifically for labeling ammonia pipes, typically used in cold storage facilities.

It is obvious that they give away pipe marking guides because they hope you will purchase a DuraLabel printer to make your pipe marker labels, however there is no purchase required to get a free pipe marking guide.

How does the DuraLabel do at making pipe labels?  Outstanding!  It makes clear, easy-to-read pipe marker labels in whatever size is needed, down to 1/2″ tape widths.  The high quality of the printing and vinyl tapes means you’ll have pipe labels that are durable and that can easy be read from a distance.

Take advantage of this free pipe marking guide offer.  When you get your free guide, information about the DuraLabel printer will be enclosed.  Look it over and see for yourself whether the DuraLabel will make your job easier (and save you money!).

Making Arc Flash Labels

Posted in Industrial Safety at 9:53 pm by duralabel

We’ve been talking about DuraLabel supplies, and as I was looking over the main DuraLabel web site today I was reminded about the free offer for an arc Flash Label Guide, so I thought I’d mention both today.

Arc flash labels provide warnings and needed information at any location where there is the potential for an arc flash.   The DuraLabel has the supplies to make both die-cut arc flash labels (in three languages) and arc flash labels made from continuous vinyl.  If you are using continuous vinyl there are a number of options available, including single color tapes, and two color tapes (tapes with a color header).

The Arc Flash Label Guide describes and defines the information found on a typical arc flash labels.  There are no standards that mandate the information that must be included on an arc flash label.  This guide describes the information most commonly include on an arc flash label.  It is excellent for getting new employees, vendors and contractors quickly up to speed on understanding the information on arc flash labels.

DuraLabel Die-Cut Labels

Posted in DuraLabel Supplies at 7:39 pm by duralabel

I was reviewing past posts and did not notice any posts on the die-cut supplies available for the DuraLabel.  These are labels that have been precut to a specific shape and size.  They come on a backing tape (a roll) that feeds through the DuraLabel printer.  By detecting the gap between the labels, the printer can determine the location of labels and precisely print text and graphics on the label.

Die-cut labels offer a number of advantages:

1) DuraLabel die-cut labels are available with preprinted headers (DANGER and NOTICE), and preprinted with the NFPA Diamond or color bars for making RTK labels.  The advantage is that you get full-color labels, but you do not need to pay for a color printer or color supplies.  Die-cut labels provide an economical way to print color labels using a monochrome printer.

2) Die-cut labels provide a standardized format.  This is important when it comes to safety.  People must be able to read and understand the information on a label quickly, in particular if they are dealing with an emergency.  Standardization, always having the same type of information in the same location on every label, is important in helping people find the information they need.

3) Die-cut labels have rounded corners.  Yes, rounded corners do make the labels look nicer, but there is an important reason for rounded corners.  As labels age they are most likely to start coming unstuck at the corners.  The corners are the weakest point on a label.  Rounded corners eliminates this weak point, producing labels that will last longer.

DuraLabel supplies include a wide variety of die-cut labels, from blank circles and ovals, to preprinted arc flash and hazardous materials labels.

DuraLabel Pro Information

A site that provides a good summary of the new DuraLabel Pro and DuraLabel Pro supplies is Industrial Labelers (dot com).   According to this site the DuraLabel Pro offers a number of advantages that will cut your labeling costs.  Like the DuraLabel 4TTP, you can purchase DuraLabel Pro supplies direct from the manufacturer, typically cutting your supply costs in half.  Another advantage of the DuraLabel Pro is that it is a high speed printer.  This means your label and sign printing jobs will be completed sooner, saving you time.  The DuraLabel Pro also is easy to load and change supplies.  The entire top of the machine lifts up providing easy access for changing tapes.  There’s plenty of room even for large size hands.

Like the DuraLabel 4TTP DuraLabel Pro supplies are available for a huge variety of application.  From standard indoor/outdoor vinyl tapes to specialized supplies, the DuraLabel Pro has the supplies necessary to handle most labeling requirements.

Industrial Labeling Supplies Sale

Posted in Labeling Supplies at 10:33 pm by duralabel

I going to go off-topic for this post and let you know about something very unusual.  The DuraLabel offers a tremendous value because you can save so much on your labeling supplies.  But if you do not yet have a DuraLabel, and you are still using a labeling machine made by Brady, Varitronics or KSun, you can still save BIG on labeling supplies.

Graphic Products is running a sale on selected OEM industrial labeling supplies.  This is highly unusual.  These are supplies that you never see on sale.  You can save up to 50%!!

The sale has been going on for a while and may of the items are marked off as having been sold out.  But there is still a wide selection of supplies available for machines such as the Brady TLS labelers, the Brady GlobalMark and Brady PowerMark.  There are even supplies available for discontinued label printers such as the Brady Labelizer plus.

It won’t take but a minute or two to check out this sale, and if you use Brady label printers in particular, it will be worth your time

DuraLabel Supplies – Vinyl Tapes, Two Thicknesses – Why?

Posted in DuraLabel Supplies at 2:50 pm by duralabel

DuraLabel supplies provide two thicknesses of vinyl tapes.  3.2 mil and 2.0 mil.  Why?

The thicker the vinyl, the more durable and rugged the label or sign will be.  So doesn’t that mean we’d want the thickest possible vinyl?  Not always.

While thick vinyl, such as 3.2 mil, provides a very rugged label, the drawback is that the thicker the vinyl, the stiffer it will be.  That’s not a problem when labels made with 3.2 mil vinyl are applied to flat surfaces.  However, when labels are needed on a curved surface the 3.2 mil vinyl may not be the best choice.   Because it is so stiff, the thicker vinyl has a tendency to return to its flat shape.  When applied to a curved surface, the thicker vinyl may start pulling free at the edges as it tries to return to its flat shape.  The thicker the vinyl, the stronger will be force pulling the label free.  The sharper the curve, the stronger will be the force pulling the label free.

That’s why DuraLabel supplies include 2.0 mil vinyl.  This thinner vinyl has considerably less force working to straighten it.  It will conform to most curved and irregular surfaces without pulling free.

That’s why there are two types of DuraLabel vinyl tapes.  One maximizes durability on flat and gently curved surfaces.  The other maximizes durability on curved and irregular surfaces.  If you are not sure which DuraLabel vinyl is best for you, a Graphic Products Customer Service Representative will be happy to assist you (1-800-788-5572).  DuraLabel supplies are only sold direct from the manufacturer, thus you’ll always be talking to a knowledgeable source of information, who can help you purchase the right DuraLabel supplies for your applications.
